The Cochrane Musculoskeletal Group produces reliable, up-to-date reviews of interventions for the prevention, treatment or rehabilitation of musculoskeletal disorders such as arthritis and osteoporosis. As the Knowledge Translation Specialist for the group, Tamara helps create material based on evidence from Cochrane reviews to non-scientific audiences. She coordinates a group of volunteers (people with musculoskeletal conditions) who peer review and help prioritize research. As a trials search coordinator for the group, she applies rigorous search methods to identify research about interventions in bone and joint conditions. She keeps up to date with current best practices for literature searching and information retrieval methodology as a member of the Cochrane Information Retrieval Methods Group and the Canadian Health Libraries Association.

Before joining Global Health in various capacities in 2004, Tamara lived in London, U.K. working for the BMJ Publishing Group on Clinical Evidence and their evidence-based patient information service, BestTreatments.org. She has also worked in several Montreal hospitals as an Information Specialist, providing customized library services to clinicians and health researchers alike. Tamara has a Masters degree in Library and Information Studies from McGill University and a Bachelors degree in English Literature from the University of Guelph.

Specialties: Knowledge translation, systematic reviews, online searching & critical appraisal of health research, writing and editing for medical and general audiences.
